Voice Your Opinion! - Andrea Vijayaraj

This blog post is very good, written well, and has good points on the video “Knock the Vote” and “Dear Young People, Don’t Vote”. The video also made me think about the responsibility of young people and their problems with not voting in recent elections. This video pushes me to get into politics and also understand how the system works, so when it's time for me to be able to vote, I know what’s going on and can vote effectively. I agree on the fact that the ad was brilliantly crafted and that it definitely outlines the problems of our generations. Your concluding statements struck a chord because it makes so much sense for young people to have their say in politics, but we’re just not doing it!

Conflict over Huawei - Timme Tam

This conflict between the US and Huawei is definitely interesting. You showed solid proof against Huawei spying but then there were no actual evidence given that the phone directly spies on those in the US. I think it was completely uncalled for when the Huawei CFO to be arrested on Canadian grounds and then transported to America for them to collect the bail. This back and forth will continue to destroy Huawei’s reputation as a phone company, and I expect sales to plummet. Canada is also in a very sticky situation because of this issue, having to pick a side to either support the US or China and I hope our Public Safety Minister and the rest of parliament picks correctly on which side to they will support.

Banning Social Media - Janssen Rambaud

It is sad how people are making things up to directly harm other people and to spread false news just for their own benefits. Especially after something so tragic like the bombing in Sri Lanka it hurts my heart knowing that writers are taking advantage of the situation and trying to make a profit out of it. Even though both bans were lifted, it was terrible that was a ban in the first place. I agree with you that it was a good move by the government to protect the people of the nation and to reduce riots. I wish you would have elaborated on the use of VPNs and what happened after these people got hold of information that was banned.

Culture is Not a Costume - Joshua Lin

I am happy that you haven’t seen this much, and neither have I. It’s true that educated people are taking all of this very seriously, but it is the ‘educated’ part that’s the problem. I don’t think many schools around the world are exposed to different cultures and that means a lot of kids and even adults don’t know the offensiveness of imitating another’s culture. About those who don’t care and just do what they, it’s a shame because, as you said, culture is a very important thing to many people. Culture does define who we are and people need to be educated about this topic or else there will be a lot of controversy especially because of the increase of exposure and communication.

WWDC19 - Jake Gimmy

Even though I personally do not own an iPhone, this is exciting for me as well, as I follow the technology scene to because it’s interesting. New software updates are always exciting because it can change the whole feel of a device. New features in software is what I am drawn to most in phones, but hardware is also important. Apple hasn’t revamped their iOS in a while so I hope there will be some cool new features or even an icon revamp again, even a small one would be interesting. Even though I cannot say that I will be following it as much as you, I will definitely love to see what they have come up with and the innovations the have for the year of 2019.
